This project will focus on the Mediterranean after 1800, looking at infrastructures and machineries of acceleration such as airports, train stations, motorway bridges, industrial ports, and engine-driven ships. These sites are often overlooked in overarching narratives of the region. The Mediterranean after 1800 typically appears either in decline or romanticized, therefore this ‘machinery room’ of modernity has never been at the center of attention. These sites of movement are associated with processes of migration, colonisation and decolonisation as well as environmental and economic crises, thus making the Mediterranean a politically relevant place today. MEDMACH will seize the potential of images and image archives to advance knowledge about the modern and contemporary Mediterranean. It will use images and image archives in order to understand travel, transit, migration, environment and cultural encounter in, around, and across the Mediterranean.

Das interdisziplinäre Projekt Post-REALM ('Post-National Reconceptions of European Literary History') wird digitale Methoden mit herkömmlichen hermeneutischen Ansätzen verbinden, um 32 Versionen des spätmittelalterlichen paneuropäischen Romans Floire und Blancheflor-vergleichend zu analysieren. Ziel des Projekts ist es, einerseits, ein neues Verständnis dafür zu schaffen, wie diese beliebte Erzählung geschrieben, adaptiert und in verschiedenen Regionen Europas verbreitet wurde und, andererseits, einen grundlegenden methodologischen Wandel in der Erforschung historischer Texttraditionen anzuregen.

TreeGraSP verbindet theoretische linguistische Modellierung mit datengetriebenen statistischen Ansätzen zur Grammatikinduktion und zum semantischen Parsing. Das Innovative des Projekts besteht darin, die Semantik und ihre Schnittstelle zur Syntax in den Mittelpunkt der Grammatiktheorie zu stellen, den Schwerpunkt auf Mehrsprachigkeit und typologische Vielfalt zu legen und einen konstruktionsbasierten Grammatikansatz zu wählen.
