In a nutshell - what does the habilitation committee do?

The habilitation committee decides whether someone is qualified to independently represent the subject or sub-subject awarded by the faculty in research and teaching. It awards the title phil. habil and, as a rule, the title PD. The dean is the voting chairperson. The committee meets four times during the lecture period, the term of office is two years, re-election is possible. In a nutshell - what does the doctoral committee do?

The doctoral committee represents the professional and methodological diversity of the disciplines represented in the faculty. The meetings take place four times during the lecture period and are not open to the public. The term of office is two years, for students one year. The members are responsible for the examination boards of the BA core subject study programmes, the integrated BA study programmes and the Master's study programmes. The three boards are equally staffed; each is chaired by a different member of the professorial staff.

In a nutshell - what does the examination board do for tiered degree programmes (BA/MA)?

The examination boards are responsible for the BA core and supplementary subjects, the integrated degree programmes and the MA degree programmes. They ensure that the provisions of the exam regulations are adhered to, determine the details of the exam procedure, ensure that the exams are conducted properly and decide on the interpretation of the exam regulations in cases of doubt. In particular, they are responsible for deciding on appeals against decisions made in exam procedures. The term of office is four years, for student members one year. The examination board ensures that the provisions of the exam regulations are adhered to, determines the details of the exam procedure, ensures that the exams are conducted properly and decides on the interpretation of the exam regulations in cases of doubt. In particular, it is responsible for deciding on appeals against decisions made in exam procedures. The term of office of the members is four years, that of the student members one year. In a nutshell - what does the Ethics Committee do?

The Ethics Commission examines and judges the ethical permissibility of research projects that involve human subjects or research with personal data of test persons. In a nutshell - what does the Faculty Commission for the Promotion of Early Career Researchers do?

The commission is the selection committee for awarding scholarships to suitable applicants in accordance with the HHU scholarship regulations, for faculty prizes and for all other funding instruments for young academics. The commission develops strategic and operational concepts for the operation of a cooperative IKM supply system, including a media lab, and advises the dean. It meets at least once per semester. For further information, please refer to the Faculty Regulations, §4 (7) 9 (German only).

The Study Commission is the central body for the organisation of studies and teaching. Among other things, it advises on changes to study and examination regulations and re-accreditation applications and makes a recommendation to the Faculty Council.
