The Ethics Commission of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is an independent advisory body. It comprises representatives from among the faculty professors, mid-level academic staff and student body.

The commission is tasked with evaluating the ethics of research projects that are to be carried out by members of the university (i.e. enrolled students, full-time university staff, Privatdozent*innen, associate professors, doctoral researchers) on or with human beings as well as of data on humans that is collected or evaluated before the research begins and advising the responsible researchers.
