Scholarships for the advancement of women

Every year, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities allocates a portion of its budget to funding the advancement of women. The financial resources are used to provide targeted support in the form of scholarships for female students and female early career researchers affiliated with the faculty.

Invitation for applications: scholarships for the advancement of women of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Applications are currently being accepted for the scholarships for the advancement of women in the winter semester 2022/23. The application deadline is 1 December 2022. See here for full details of the invitation for applications (German only).

There are two scholarship categories:

Firstly, there are scholarships for female students with a justifiable financial need (e.g. due to a disability or chronic illness, parenting obligations, care of a relative) currently preparing their (Bachelor or Master) dissertation. An average mark of at least “Good” is required.

Secondly, there are travel grants to enable female academics and students to participate in conferences, research stays and academic summer/winter schools.

The travel expenses are covered for conferences and congresses in Germany and abroad where a presentation will be given as well as for scientific research in archives and libraries or for data collection for a dissertation or final thesis in Germany and abroad. Since the winter semester 2019, the scholarships have also supported participation in summer/winter schools.

The travel expenses are reimbursed upon submission of the receipts to the person responsible for scholarship matters ().

For details of the documents to submit and further information, see the current invitation for applications.

The Commission for the Advancement of Women decides on the awarding of scholarships, however the Central Scholarship Office is responsible for their processing. The framwork regulations (German only) for the awarding of scholarships at HHU also apply for the scholarships for the advancement of women.
