Heinrich Heine Certificate Programme “Critical Antisemitism Education”
Starting in the summer semester 2026, all students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at HHU can earn a certificate in critical antisemitism education.
The programme comprises three modules, which students can choose from the regular course offerings as well as external events. Students attend one lecture series, two seminars and one external event (workshop, excursion, etc.).
Learning outcomes
Students acquire competences in the following areas
- historical and contemporary origins and manifestations of antisemitism
- similarities and particularities of antisemitism and other forms of group focused enmity
- plurality of Jewish life
- civic education
- In the lecture series HHU researchers and external guests present new findings from antisemitism research
- Frequency: every 2nd semester
- Scope: 1 SWH
- Launch in SoSe 2026: from 14 April, every other Tuesday, 4:30–6:00 PM, in HS 3B (23.01)
- Students choose from the range of external events on the topic of antisemitism prevention one event and have it credited
- Frequency: as available

- Students choose one seminar from the regular curriculum on the topic of antisemitism as well as Jewish culture and history
- Frequency: every semester
- Scope: 4 SWH
